After completing the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business, I applied to five top-up programmes in the UK and was accepted to all of them. Having carefully considered the options, I elected to study at the University of Worcester, as it’s currently ranked as the UK’s fastest-growing university, is investing heavily in its infrastructure and has a high student satisfaction rating. I was accepted on the basis of my grades and a short description of why I would be an asset for the university.
In the autumn of 2015, I began the first of eight months of studies at the University of Worcester in order to earn by Bachelor’s, moving in to a nice apartment near the campus that I’d managed to locate when I visited England with my girlfriend in the summer. Worcester’s top-up programme includes three compulsory courses (International Marketing, Intercultural Perspectives and Innovation and Entrepreneurship) and in addition to his there are a few optional subjects to choose from (such as e-Business and Marketing for the Digital Age) so there is lots to keep me busy. After Worcester, I intend to apply to their Master’s programme, which will require me staying for an additional year.
I am very happy with the choices I made in Finland. It was useful to start learning English in my home country and I developed at HELBUS a strong foundation from which to continue my studies abroad. I feel that I have a lot of opportunities as a result of my studying pathway and am confident moving into the future.

I’m currently reading for my Master’s degree at the University of Reading in the UK having completed my Bachelor’s at the University of Northampton as well as HELBUS.
A massive consideration for choosing Northampton was that I was able to complete my Bachelor’s studies in July and received my certificate in August. This allowed me to apply for Master’s studies, which usually start in September. I applied to the University of Reading and was accepted to study Behavioural Finance (later changed to MSc Capital Markets, Regulations and Compliance), which was a step up from the BA Business and Management that I achieved in Northampton. Looking back, I can really see how HELBUS helped me to develop a positive outlook toward business studies and prepared me for my time in England. I found it easy to understand the concepts related to business and management because I had already studied them in some detail at HELBUS. Without HELBUS, I also would not have been able to start my Master’s degree programme only two years since I started to study at HELBUS.
The University of Reading is a great university. I applied to the ICMA center, which increases your chances of getting a job at one of the major firms such as JP Morgan, Barclays, UPS or Deloitte. The facilities are fantastic and there are lots of career events that students can attend in order to find support. The university also helps to prepare you for your future career and puts you in direct contact with industry. There are a range of subjects from which you can choose your major and there are many elective courses. Even though I didn’t have any previous experience in finance, I still was able to study it in University of Reading, ICMA center. Even if you have studied previously business field the students can still apply to field what they are most interested.
After I finish my studies in June, I’m planning to apply in internship in banking industry. Specifically, in Mergers &Acquisitions, which my studies will prepare me. After working in UK, planning to come back Finland in next year fall and continue working.
Thank you for everyone in HELBUS that you have made it possible for me to be this far in my studies.

After studying the first two years at HELBUS I graduated with my Bachelor’s from EU Business School in Munich, Germany, and am now earning my Bachelor’s from HELBUS, too. My experience in Munich was very useful not only for the business management skills I acquired but also through the connections I made with people from all over the world, and new business ideas we started developing together. After my return to Finland I joined a small company called Flow Drinks as a Sales Manager. The company is reinventing itself, developing its brand and has ambitious globalisation plans, which offers me a fascinating window to how a start-up company after initial difficulties starts witnessing success and growing its operations. Additionally, I have started an internet and importing business called TechFerm with some friends of mine. My studies at HELBUS and the extraordinary professors gave me a solid foundation of success in my final year of the Bachelor’s and I’ve found my studies extremely useful when setting up and developing new businesses.
