Announcement for visiting instructor vacancy at HELBUS

Instructor for Pitching & Negotiation (Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma in Business: Unit 44)

HELBUS Helsinki School of Business seeks a visiting instructor to deliver a second-year (level 5; 15 UK credits) undergraduate course for its Pearson/BTEC Higher National Diploma in Business. There are two tracks: the intensive full-time (FT) programme with a 3-week full-time delivery in Helsinki, Finland, and a fully online (OL) track with a 7-week delivery that does not require a presence in Finland. Applicants should be available to deliver both tracks.

Instructors are expected to independently prepare, teach and assess their units with support and guidance from HELBUS staff. The essential content, learning outcomes and assessment criteria are specified by Pearson.

Candidates are invited for the following BTEC Higher National Diploma unit:

Unit 44: Pitching and Negotiation

Full-time track from November 9 to November 29, 2020 –three-week full-time delivery at our premises in Helsinki, grading assessment completed within 12 weeks from the start of course delivery

Online track from March 3 to May 2, 2021 –seven-week part-time distance learning

The unit description with additional information on the essential content of the course, the learning outcomes and the assessment criteria is available on request. The course content and the assignment brief are the same for both tracks.

Learning Outcomes

  • Evaluate the context of a negotiation and identify the information required to prepare for a negotiation. 
  • Manage documentation relevant to tenders and contracts. 
  • Develop a pitch to achieve a sustainable competitive edge. 
  • Assess the outcome of a pitch and negotiation.

We require the following:

  • Teaching experience at first- or second-year undergraduate level
  • A teaching qualification
  • Experience and/or qualification in distance & online teaching
  • Master’s or preferably PhD in business
  • Proficiency in English

We also value the following:

  • Interactive teaching methods
  • Proactive approach to providing constructive, formative feedback
  • Experience in planning, delivering and assessing course units in an intensive, block-teaching format
  • Previous experience teaching Pearson HND Business units
  • Practitioner experience in the relevant area
  • Proficiency in Moodle, Turnitin, Zoom
  • Good student feedback
