The curriculum at HELBUS has been designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge to be able to succeed in international business. In years one and two, you will develop a strong foundation in diverse areas of business and management, such as marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, human resource management and organisational behaviour, and learn how these are integrated within the wider business environment. In your third year, you will expand on these competencies and deepen your theoretical and practice knowledge in the core fields, while simultaneously advancing your individual and group skills.

In the first two years, you will earn 240 UK credits (equivalent to 120 ECTS) – over 15 modules. In the third year, you will study an additional six modules worth 120 UK credits. Overall, the BA (Hons) degree will consist of 360 UK credits (equivalent to 180 ECTS credits).

The Contemporary Business Environment

Provides a fundamental knowledge and understanding of business, the functions of an organisation and the wider business environments in which organisations operate.

Marketing Essentials

Introduces the principles of marketing, requiring learners to develop a basic marketing plan and to employ elements of the marketing mix to achieve results.

Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management

Outlines the definition and scope of entrepreneurship, including the importance of external influences, the personal characteristics and situational factors of successful entrepreneurs, the concept of risk and reward and the significance of small firms to the national economy, in addition to analysing the enablers and barriers to business start-up.

Management of Human Resources

Enables students to appreciate and apply principles of effective and flexible human resource management throughout the HR cycle, and visits the tools and techniques used to maximise employee contribution and gain competitive advantage.

Leadership and Management

Contrasts the characteristics, behaviours and traits which support effective management and leadership. Learners will explore the theories of management and leadership, leadership styles, motivational strategies and their importance for achieving continuous improvement.

Digital Business in Practice

Explores how digital technologies can support organisations to promote their business, drive omnichannel sales growth and provide high levels of customer service. The skills generated through an understanding of the practical use and application of digital technologies will enable students to present themselves as being digitally literate to employers and give them the confidence to succeed in applying modern, digital methods.

Accounting Principles

Introduces the fundamental accounting principles that underpin financial operations and support sustainable decision making. Learners will develop a theoretical and practical understanding of a range of financial and management accounting techniques.

Managing a Successful Business Project

Develops the skills required for managing, implementing and presenting an independent research  project in an acceptable and understandable format to various stakeholders.

Launching a New Venture

Provides a practical understanding of what is required to successfully launch a new venture and details the importance of attracting customers, competitive advantage, budgeting, forecasting cash flow and growing a network of knowledge and resources.

Organisational Behaviour Management

Analyses the influence culture, politics and power has on the behaviour of individuals, teams and organisations as a whole, and discusses how to use this knowledge to make an immediate and positive contribution in the workplace; whether that role is as part of a team or as a team leader.

Research Project Parts I & II

Allows students to explore and examine a relevant and current topical aspect of business in the context of the business environment and their own personal fields of interest.

Pitching and Negotiation Skills

Provides a comprehensive overview of the essential pitching and negotiation skills required to win new contracts on agreeable terms as a prerequisite for generating favourable sales and networking opportunities.

Developing Individuals, Teams and Organisations

Demonstrates that developing knowledge and skills to achieve high performance is a cross-organisation activity and explores the contexts in which learning takes place in order to use professional development as a tool to improve individual and team efficiency and to support organisational strategy. 

Brand Management

Provides an end-to-end overview of brand management from understanding how brands are formed through to exploring a range of tools and techniques that can be employed to maximise brand value and manage a portfolio of brands over time. Case studies are used to analyse brand portfolio strategies and evaluate how brands are leveraged domestically and internationally.

Sales Management

A practical introduction to selling techniques, sales structures, customer relationships and portfolio management.

Accounting and Finance for Managers

Explores core aspects of accounting and finance, including financial reporting, management accounting and financial management.

Business Social Responsibility

This module considers a broad spectrum of issues relating to the social responsibility of business. They are increasingly important aspects of corporate behaviour with a wide impact on firm performance and with considerable and growing public and media interest.

Business Project

Requires the learner to complete a piece of independent, supervised study that will complement the taught programme and showcase a detailed understanding of all business issues within the framework.

Principles of Marketing Management

Examines in depth the tactical tools available to marketing managers for the management of the controlled variables, as typified by the marketing mix, through the exploration of key marketing concepts.

Strategic Human Resource Management

Introduces strategic issues and trends in the subject with a focus on understanding enablers and barriers to the implementation of HR strategy and critical evaluation of human resource policy and its practical implementations across wide-ranging business scenarios.

Strategic Management

Identifies concepts, theories and current issues across strategic management such as corporate objectives, industry and company analysis, strategic trends and drivers and disruptive innovation, in order to provide learners with a deeper understanding of the underlying issues.
